Before You Begin

Setting up your Ledger device correctly is essential for the security of your cryptocurrencies. Please follow these steps carefully.

Security Warning: Only purchase Ledger devices from official sources. Never share your 24-word recovery phrase with anyone, and always verify addresses on your device screen.

What You'll Need:

  • Your Ledger device (Nano S, Nano S Plus, or Nano X)
  • The USB cable that came with your device
  • A computer or smartphone with internet access
  • Approximately 20 minutes of time
  • The recovery sheet from your box (or paper to write on)

Install Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the official app to manage your Ledger device. Download and install it on your computer:

Initialize Your Device

Now it's time to set up your Ledger device:

Critical Security Step: Your recovery phrase is the only way to recover your funds if your device is lost or damaged. Never digitize it or store it online. Keep it safe and secure.

Set Up Ledger Live

Now let's set up Ledger Live to manage your cryptocurrencies:

  1. Open Ledger Live on your computer
  2. Select "Get started" and choose your device
  3. Follow the instructions to connect your device
  4. Create a password to secure Ledger Live (optional but recommended)
  5. Ledger Live will automatically check your device firmware and update if necessary
Tip: Keep your device firmware updated to ensure you have the latest security features and support for new cryptocurrencies.

Install Apps and Add Accounts

Now you can install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage:

  1. In Ledger Live, go to the "Manager" tab
  2. Connect and unlock your Ledger device
  3. Allow the manager on your device when prompted
  4. Browse or search for the crypto app you want to install (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum)
  5. Click "Install" next to the app name
  6. Repeat for other cryptocurrencies you want to manage
  7. Go to the "Accounts" tab to add accounts for your cryptocurrencies
